Millennium- Cybershamanism : the psychedelic challenge of the century
All through history the shaman has been the one to take it upon him or her
to search the depths of the spiritworld and the unconscious to come up with
a vision, with guidelines, warning or solutions for his people. With the
millennium creeping closer the shadow of this mostly technical problem
becomes a psychological problem, apart from recoding software. A feeling of
panic is emerging and with the overinflated economy at its artificial peak
there is little doubt that it will be a stockmarket crash that will start a
potential global panic, making the great depression look like a kid's game.
However, there is still time to come up with countermeasures, finding a new
balance that would prevent a run on the bank or a run into the woods.
If we were still a 'primitive' people, we would call in the shamen and put
this question to them, how to save the world from a global recession and
panic.
However, today's shamen are more likely to be found in the psychedelic
brotherhood, in the silicon guild and turned cybernauts, so why not ask them
to do the work, to make their trips, their rituals, their ceremonail vision
quests or their personal travels in consciousness a contribution to solve or
divert the millennium-psychoses.
